Sharp Park Library was built 62 years ago, before the United States put a man on the moon, and its aging infrastructure no longer meets modern standards.
The project envisions a new 25,000 square foot, full-service branch open 7 days a week.
Key features of the new Sharp Park Library include:
A new community meeting room
Dedicated spaces for kids, teens, and families
Group study rooms
A new collaboration / maker space
Expanded access to technology
Improved accessibility for seniors and families
Expanded physical collections
Why does the building need it be renovated?
The building is in need of such extensive repairs that it is more cost effective to demolish the building and start fresh.
Do we need such a large Sharp Park Library?
The size of the proposed Sharp Park building is actually considered standard for a community of our size. And despite Pacifica’s larger population, we have significantly smaller libraries than our neighboring communities.
